Story
My sister in-law was diagnosed with early onset Stage IV Bowel Cancer in October 2023.
No family history of bowel cancer and otherwise in good health her whole life, this came as a shock to all, only being 41 years old.
Unfortunately bowel cancer does not discriminate. For people my age (38) you don't realise how silent the symptoms can be with your gut health until you are impacted by it. Early onset bowel cancer is on the rise and unfortunately is not screened, or at times not considered a type of cancer that could affect young Australians.
Yet, of Australians aged 25-44, Bowel Cancer is the deadliest cancer and the sixth leading cause of death.
The last 8 months for EJ since being diagnosed have been life changing. Not only herself, but her family and friends. EJ takes all of this in her stride, trying to live life to the fullest everyday - amongst the now routine chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood tests, specialist appointments and surgeries.
Always smiling 😊 Always snapping the moment 📸
As EJ prepares for the next step in her fight to beat this disease, to fundraise for this cause I'm going to run 5km rain, hail or shine each day for the month of June. A challenge that is not comparable to what anyone diagnosed with bowl cancer feels everyday.
If you could please show your support towards further research and care for this cause, all donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through Bowel Cancer Australia.
I'll be posting my runs each day on Strava (seen below) & if you want further details of my run journey (maybe with the occasional photo or fact), this is my link below:

Thanks so much for your support!
