Karly’s SMC Village
Karly’s SMC Village
Story
Sometimes you meet a person who you just know will be a friend. Karly was positive, supportive, practical, fun and hilarious. Karly’s encouragement of others had no end, her love for life and adventures was infectious.
Karly also loved and was loved by our children, I’m pretty sure she became all of children’s favourite “Fake Aunty” probably because she was the one setting up the easter egg hunts, organising craft days and encouraging them to go faster on the giant slide at Yambuk.
However the most important part of our time with Karly, and the part that is imprinted on us forever took place on the beaches, where Karly shared the magic of Golden Hour- “the end of the day, the promise of new”.
Karly’s love of golden hour is a poignant reminder that no matter what happens throughout the day and whatever cards you are dealt, there’s always time to find the good at the end of the day. While we would give anything to share another golden hour with her, we know that she will be making sure the golden hours are a whole lot more golden from now on.
When our friend was diagnosed with early onset stage 4 bowel cancer, she lead by example raising money and awareness of this cancer.
Karly also raised her village, and we - her SMC village - are carrying on in her memory.
Please consider this June - to donate, or participate in any of the events we can arrange.
As we continue to build villages and awareness of health.
